Alexa Point Test
Are You In The Top 1%?
I recently did the Alexa Point
Test and found out that my dog food website is in the top
4% of all websites! The tests says it ranks at 3,687,321
(assuming 100 million active domains). So I'm not in the
top 1% yet, but my site is only one year old and I haven't
really worked on it that much.
Have you taken the Alexa Point
Test yet?
Alexa ranks websites based on traffic. The top 5 websites in
terms of traffic are Google, Facebook, Youtube, Yahoo, and
Live. The competition for website traffic is fierce.
Netcraft says the number of websites has doubled in the last
two years to 182 million. And also Google announced
recently that it has indexed over 1 trillion unique URLS or
webpages. But 6% or about 10.5 million of these sites are
Google related, which is odd. That is the bad news.
The good news is the majority of these sites are spam or
inactive sites. So if you regularly update your site and
build links you can easily have your site in the top 5%.
But what does it take to get your site in the top 1%?
Content is King
No matter how many "secrets" gurus try to sell you, at the
end of the day content wins. Its all part of the much
talked about CTPM
Process.
Even John Reese said this in an email to his list titled
“The Online Business That Just Won't Die!” on April 7th.
John Reese said ”If you want to build a rock-solid, long-term
business online then build a CONTENT BUSINESS. Target
certain keywords and have good content created around
them. The 'key' here is GOOD content, not crap
auto-generated or scraped with software.”
Often Newbies and even experienced webmaster often
mistakenly focus on monetization of their websites first and
worry about content second, which is contrary to the
CTPM
Process. Don't spend your time trying to set up a
shopping cart or a merchant account at the beginning.
Spend the most of your time building a quality site with
lots of great content. Lots of content equals lots of free
traffic from search engines. If you don't have lots of
content, then you have to rely on PPC to drive traffic to your
website.
The Right Kind of Traffic
While traffic is important, as Ken Envoy says you need
targeted traffic that is motivated, interested, and willing to
buy from you.
Which is why you need lots of great and useful content for
the reader. So whether you are earning money from Adsense,
Clickbank, or selling your own physical products, traffic is
the lifeblood of making money on the Internet.
